HotHouse is based in Nelson Tasman, at the top of the South Island, New Zealand.
Established in 1998 in a tiny second story office above a pub on Hardy Street, we’ve grown over the years to become a 15 plus team of communications and IT professionals based in another (renovated) ex-pub on Bridge Street.
Provincial House is a recently renovated historic building (2017) – one of the very first hotels built in Nelson in 1865.
Sailors from the port close by used to dock their boats and come in for a drink. Since then most of the surrounding land has been reclaimed - the sea is further away and the port is quite a bit larger!
No longer a tavern, the building is now home to HotHouse Creative studio and Jaks Cafe on the ground floor, and modern, self-contained inner-city apartments above.
What can we say - welcome to paradise. Nelson is a smart little city of around 50,000 inhabitants, right next to the larger Tasman district which stretches across to the West Coast and down as far as Murchison.
It’s a large region we’re proud and lucky to call home, with three national parks, world class mountain biking tracks, a pumping city, funky towns, and the best nature has to offer on our doorstep.
Blessed with a remarkable micro-climate, lots of sunshine and settled weather, the area is a horticultural hotbed, and a commercial hub for a surprising range of industries and businesses with global connections.
